An outstanding Chinese Export Tureen with underplate, c. 1790, in excellent condition along with 6 dinner plates, two damaged, and two leaf-form serving dishes, one damaged. Rope and tassel cartouche surrounding shield with rope at top, dart, star and egg borders and floral sprigs throughout, openwork blue and sepia rope handles, pomegranate finial, crest and field surrounding initials "TOR". A four section silver-plate and mirrored glass plateau, with two D-ended sections and two square sections, all with a cast column and swag gallery, the sections containing mirrored glass with original wood base, unmarked. 59 ¾ l. x 20 5/8 w. The same plateau can be seen in Cadou, The George Washington Collection Fine and Decorative Arts at Mount Vernon, page 140.
