A George III mahogany tester bedstead, second half 18th century, having finely carved fluted columnar leaf-capped front posts on square-section legs with molded plinth feet. Rear posts are plain, and tapered, having a rectangular slide-in headboard. This bed was originally in Michie Tavern, Charlottesville. Includes custom box spring insert and fine custom made toile bed hangings. Will fit a contemporary double (full) mattress.
